Nation View is a challenging 18-hole par 72 golf course with 4 par 3, and 4 par 5 holes. 13 of 18 holes have water close by.

snatview11Nationview was designed and constructed by Doug Durant and family in 1994-96, on 130 acres of previously undeveloped land. It was opened in July '96 with the official opening June 14, 1997 for the first full season.

snatview12This unique course has maintained the natural beauty of the lay of the land, as evidenced by the strategically placed clumps of pine and birch trees, and the addition of colorful flower beds with rail fences. Play is over the Nation River twice and beside it twice, with both treed and open fairways. Fairways are a mixture of bluegrass and fescue with total yardage of 6,444 from the blue tees; 6,121 from the white tees; 5,193 from the red tees. Bent grass greens are approximately 4,000—5,000 sq. ft. in total and are well maintained.

La Cité Hole By Hole

  1. Par 3 yardage 174 152 125
A left front bunker catches a misshit shot. Once on the green, the surface is relatively flat.

  2. Par 3 yardage 202 172 121
Another par 3 well bunkered usually toughened by the prevailing west wind.

  3. Par 4 yardage 336 301 238
Short slight dog leg right, landing area well guarded by side bunkers.

  4. Par 4 yardage 360 337 308
Dog leg right, relatively short but demanding a good drive to reach corner where green becomes visible.

  5. Par 3 yardage 156 142 116
Another par 3 to test your iron play. Shot demands to carry over the pond which stretches from tee to green.

  6. Par 5 yardage 517 487 409
A good par 5. One must carry stone edged creek. The green is not likely to be reached in two, even by the long hitter, due to the prevailing west wind.

  7. Par 4 yardage 367 352 278
Lake borders green and fairway on left side. Position your tee shot.

  8. Par 5 yardage 511 473 415
Double dog leg, one of our nicest holes. The long hitter must hit around corner and if he wishes to gamble, he can attempt hitting on the green, located behind a majestic stone walled creek.

  9. Par 3 yardage 205 184 124
The fourth of our 6 par 3's and the toughest. Again well bunkered and mounds on left side of fairway hamper the green's visibility.

  10. Par 4 yardage 339 312 288
Dog leg right. Stay away from right bush to allow straight second shot coming in.

  11. Par 4 yardage 352 303 236
Out of bounds on right side. One can score a big number if not careful!

  12. Par 3 yardage 145 121 101
Double tiered green makes par difficult if one does not position the shot close to the hole.

  13. Par 4 yardage 428 370 299
Our toughest hole! Dog leg right leaving approach directly into west wind.

  14. Par 3 yardage 174 165 119
The last of the Par 3'S. Another good par3 located close to bush and guarded by left front bunker.

  15. Par 4 yardage 365 338 319
Dog leg right. Out of bounds on right side. The second shot is usually into the prevailing west wind.

  16. Par 5 yardage 502 488 410
Nice par 5 reachable in 2 shots for long hitter. Second shot over a lake.

  17. Par 5 yardage 550 499 407
Another god test! Demanding a good drive over the creek, with a narrowing fairway as you approach the green.

  18. Par 4 yardage 356 321 269
A good finishing hole. One can cut the corner over the lake and bunkers to shorten the approach shot, but it demands a good drive, again into the west wind.

La Cité Golf Club

laciteclubhouse
La Cité Golf Club
was originally a par 64 golf course known as Bon Air Public Golf. It was constructed in 1994 on 112 acres of land located in the heart of the city of Hawkesbury. Steven Ward, a golf architect from Golf Plan Associates of Toronto designed the course.

mlacite05In April 1998, the golf course was bought by three local businessmen Kurt Hungerbuebler and Raymond Danis, two industrialists and Rejean Thoret, an insurance broker.

The new owners quickly added 8 tees to lengthen the course by 245 yards and proceeded to purchase adjacent land to extend the golf course to a par 70, which will be 6043 yards from the back tees, for a 69 rating with a slope of 124. Three of the nine par 3's were eliminated and substituted by par 5's, however the attractive front tees were kept intact, playing at 4612 yards for the beginner or senior golfers. Again the golf architect Steven Ward was hired to maintain the authentic character and design of the original golf course.

slacite03 Three existing greens were bulldozed away to either unify existing holes or create new ones. 115,000 yards of dwarf blue grass and bent grass were laid down to cover the new holes.

slacite09Blaney Creek runs through this fully automated irrigated course. Fountains purify and keep the four lakes clear and algae free. The stone edged creek which runs through the 6th and 17th fairways again adds charm to the course. The impressive, newly constructed stone wall bordering the par 5 8th hole further enhances the character of this layout. One soon forgets he is enjoying the game of golf on a course located in the heart of a city. A luxurious and elegant clubhouse with a paved parking lot fully compliments this public golf course.

A nearby Best Western Motel, attractive local and franchised restaurants could make your next golf vacation a reality. How about booking your next golf tournament, wedding reception or family get together at La Cité Golf Club.
