The Match Play Competitions are Single Elimination events. The winner advances to the next round of play. The loser gets a weakness tissue.

Rules & Handicaps
- Play will be governed by the Official Rues of Golf.
- The player is responsible for knowing the Rules and understand the proper application of handicap strokes.
- Players must keep current handicaps here or with Golf Canada
- Matches will be played with current course handicaps as of the date of play.
- A player’s Course Handicap is determined by multiplying a Handicap Factor by the Slope Rating of the course played and then dividing by 113. The resulting figure is rounded off to the nearest whole number (.5 or more is rounded upward).
- Before starting your match the players report to one another their respective course handicaps. If a player begins a match having declared a handicap higher than that to which he is entitled, he is disqualified.
- Strokes given or received are awarded based on 100% of the difference between the player’s handicaps.
For Example: Player A has a course handicap of 10 and Player B is 15. Player B will receive a stroke on the holes handicapped 1 through 5 on the scorecard. - A maximum differential of 18, an allocation of no more than one stroke per hole is allowed.

Different Tees: Men vs. Men; Women vs. Women; Women vs. Men
- Different tees usually have different Ratings. Because an RCGA Course Rating reflects the probable score of a scratch golfer, the higher-rated course is more difficult, and the player playing from the set of tees with the higher RCGA Course Rating receives additional stroke(s) equal to the difference between each RCGA Course Rating, with .5 or greater rounded upward. The additional stroke(s) are added to the Course Handicap of the player playing from the higher-rated set of tees. (See Decision 3-5/1 for an exception.)
- Example 1: If men playing from the middle tees where the men’s RCGA Course Rating is 70.3 compete against men playing from the back tees where the men’s RCGA Course Rating is 72.6, the men playing from the back tees will add two strokes (72.6 - 70.3 = 2.3 rounded to 2 ) to Course Handicap.
- Example 2: If women playing from the forward tees from which the women’s RCGA Course Rating is 73.4 compete against men playing from the middle tees from which the men’s RCGA Course Rating is 70.9, the women will add three strokes (73.4 - 70.9 = 2.5 rounded to 3 ) to Course Handicap.
- Player Eligibility
- Players must be active participants in the forums
- Players must reside in the region. That is the area covered by the map here
- Scheduling
- The players mutually agree on a time and place to play.
- There will be no deadline extensions. No exceptions.
- If no date can be found by the deadline one player will have to forfeit. If you cannot agree on which player should forfeit – both players must forfeit. The committee will not mediate as to who is more responsible for the scheduling conflict.
- If a player is non-responsive, attempts to contact the individual should continue until the final week of the round. A claim should then be made by the player making said attempts. The committee will review these claims.
- Schedule forfeits will only be accepted on the final week of competition once all other options have been exhausted
-
Course Selection
- There is no minimum course length.
- Players may set a limit for the price they are willing to pay for green fees. The lower limit will govern the course selection.
- Course members and members of discount clubs should be prepared to pay full green fees at “away” courses.
- A player may decline to play a match at his opponent’s home course. A home course is a course where a player holds a membership or where he plays more than 50% of his golf.
-
Late Arrivals & No-Shows
- If a player arrives at the first tee late, but within five minutes after his starting time, the penalty is loss of the first hole instead of disqualification. Once the five minutes have elapsed the player is considered a no-show and forfeits the match – No exceptions.
-
Results
- You must determine a winner on the day of your match – No ties or rematches.
- Playoffs are to be sudden death - best score minus handicap on holes played until a winner is determined.
- In the event that playoff holes cannot be played a winner is to be determined via a skills challenge mutually agreed on by the competitors and completed before leaving the course.
- Results are to be reported by the deadline or both players forfeit
-
Caddies are permitted.
- Prizes are not transferable
